UnrealEngine3 - Create Crystal Material
This crystal is made for a action RTS game, in Unreal Engine 3.
Did some research for crystal and ice material. Key words: Translucent, Multi-faceted, Reflection, Refraction.
Create high-poly model in ZBrush. Use only clay brush for this model. (No hard surface brushes at that time, ZB3.x)
Low-poly model in Max. Single pillar duplicated many times.
Texture is very straight forward.
This is the material structure. Contains several parts. Described below:
This part is to simulation a effect like particles flowing in the crystal.
This part is to create a cube reflection on surface.
This part give a glow effect to the crystal.
This part give a bottom light looking to the crystal based on normal map.

Last part is to create a damaged version. Crystal can be destroyed by enemy.
